The Nagaland State Transport as a Department of the State Government of Nagaland was set up on 18.12.1964. The Department was born out of a Legislative Act of Nagaland under Act, 5, 1966 and its establishment Notified and Published in the Extra Ordinary Gazette Notification Dated, 8th November, 1966 vide Nagaland Code Vol. II Page 82-95 with the objective to provide passenger bus services as a public utility in order to accelerate the process of socio-economic development of the hill State.

 

The Nagaland State Transport functions with multi-activities:

  1. Passenger Bus Service Operation.
  2. State Helicopter Service Operation.
  3. Civil Infrastructure Development
  4. Management of Drivers’ Training Institute.
  5. Liaise and coordinate:
    • Civil Aviation and Air Connectivity
    • Railways
    • Inland Water Transport
