NORMAL SCHEDULE SERVICES

Normal Schedule Services: The Government has notified 524 scheduled services to be operated, however the Department with the present fleet of 171 Buses could operate only 211 scheduled services and other city Bus Services covering an average of 7720 KMs daily which includes Inter-State Service connecting Imphal (Manipur) from Dimapur and Kohima.

The Department has established network of services connecting to all the District Headquarters except Niuland District, making access to the most interior areas of the State where road connectivity exists, providing basic passenger transport facility especially to the rural areas for benefit and economic uplift of the common man. However, due to operation of the services with aged buses, reliability of the services has declined in view of frequent suspension of the daily scheduled services for want of healthy buses coupled with bad road condition attracting wide-spread public complaints and criticisms in addition to revenue shortfall. In order to facilitate urban transportation and encourage seamless mass transportation system in cities towards easing congestion and pollution, the Department has introduced City Bus services from Jalukie to New Peren HQ in addition to the existing Dimapur and Kohima City Bus Services.
